We recently spent time with the Cars.co.za and Sentimental team to test drive some of their prized possessions. The BMW 325is and the Opel Kadett GSI Superboss. The recorded video showcases Hannes Oosthuizen (Customer Experience Manager for Cars.co.za) as he talks about the interesting background of the vehicles. The video will be released soon. So this is not a review but I wanted to share my experience with these legendary vehicles.
My experience in these vehicles was definitely a special one and I got to experience a lifelong dream of getting behind the wheel of the BMW 325is. I have always been a fan of the manufacturer but this was a different experience altogether. I mean my father once owned a white 320i E30 of which he converted from automatic to manual and further did more modifications to the vehicle. We both enjoyed the 320i but the ultimate was always to get behind the wheel of the 325is. Having recently done so, the experience lived up to my expectations. For a car that’s 30 years old it sure delivered more smiles, laughs and chills I never thought were possible. It’s an exciting drive and one that agrees with an easy Sunday cruise and performs like a sports vehicle you need it to be from time to time. Even more electrifying was me being the cause of that infamous BMW 325is engine howl.
The Kadett GSI Superboss is slightly different drive. If you’ve never driven a car without power steering this will bring you serious misery. However, for me it was like taking another trip down memory lane and reexperiencing that ol’ school drive feel. Seating is slightly lower than the BMW 325is and the feedback in the steering from the road is just incredible. I felt like I was one with the car. I remember watching the Superboss drag racing the 325is on the Sentimental YouTube channel I thought there is no way the Kadette would be quicker. But, after driving the vehicle I understood and it all became clear. The car oozes power and more than anything it handles very well too.
I would like to thank cars.co.za and the Sentimental team for the great experience and a special thank you to Hannes for his time and sharing the interesting history with us. To Khulekani On Wheels, I appreciate you sharing this experience with me. This is definitely one for the books.
