Johannesburg based Tshegofatso Mahlatji is a photographer whose commercial work has seen him shooting across the advertising, editorial and corporate industries for brands, creative agencies and selected events. In 2017, Harmonix won the iStore Portrait competition, this acted as the catalyst that propelled him into the world of photography; he’s subsequently made a career of of it.
Immigrating to the world of photography from another industry, Harmonix takes a bold and cinematic approach to his subjects and their environment, always striving to evoke emotion whilst retaining an honest authenticity that he hopes will provoke a reaction, thought or discussion.
This unique approach to photography is attributable to the fact that he always immerses himself into the brand with his client, whether private or corporate, to gain a full understanding of what each piece of work needs to portray. He believes that this can only be achieved by close collaboration with brand owners.
Obsessed with capturing moments from a young age; it is people, faces, journeys and stories that dominate Harmonix’s work. He’s continuously seeking opportunities to better himself and the work he produces for his clients.
In August 2017, Harmonix was approached by Ireland/Davenport to use one of his images on of their campaigns for PRIMEDIA (94.7) and in 2019 he shot the Previdar travel issue cover with Blue Mbombo and Lorna Maseko in Sevilla, Spain.
More recently, Harmonix successfully hosted three ‘iStoremeets’ masterclasses on iPhoneography in collaboration with the iStore South Africa.
